IAHR Young Professionals Network (YPN) is committed to promoting academic exchange and collaboration among students and early-career researchers in the field of water science, providing young talents with academic activities, cutting-edge knowledge, peer support, and career development guidance.
Since 2003 when the first IAHR student chapter (later all transformed to YPN) in China was established in Sichuan University, 11 YPNs have been founded in China, including Tsinghua University (2008), China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (2011), Hohai University (2011), Tianjin University (2011), Wuhan University (2011), Dalian University of Technology (2013), Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (2018), Xi’an University of Technology (2018), Northwest A&F University (2023), and China Three Gorges University (2024).
In 2022 when the COVID-19 pandemic was still ravaging, the 1st Chinese IAHR-YPN Doctoral Forum was successfully held at Tianjin University. Under the patronage of the IAHR China Chapter, this forum was continued annually in Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (2023), Tsinghua University (2024), Dalian University of Technology (2025), and Wuhan University (2026). It has played a positive role in promoting academic exchange among graduate students in the water resources field nationwide, broadening academic horizons, and fostering inter-institutional connections.
