FFP5-2020/2021 flash floods: global challenges and lessons learned

Due to the climate change impacts, the extreme rainfall events become more frequently, which leads big challenges in flash flood prevention and control and important influences on social and economic development. During the last hydrological year (2020/2021), several extreme rainfall events have been observed around the world and have generate extreme flood events with tremendous damages. Catastrophic situations took place in numerous countries and exceptional responses were needed to answer the challenges.

Flash Flood Program holds on 7th of September a webinar aiming to provide an overview on the recent flood events recorded over the last 12 months. The webinar will allow to understand the specific conditions of the flash floods in Europe and in Asia and, to analyze consequences and to identify some lessons learned.
