IAHR is pleased to announce that the IAHR Label for Water Training and Education will be presented during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), taking place on 11 June 2025 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. This global gathering will bring together the international water community to reflect on five decades of progress in hydrological science and capacity development.
As part of the main programme, IAHR will highlight the creation and early achievements of the IAHR Label, an initiative that recognises and promotes excellence in water-related training and education worldwide.
Since its launch in 2024, three programs have been awarded the IAHR Label. This recognition has been given to the University of Cote d’Azur in France and to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia, for two of its programmes, in acknowledgment of their outstanding commitment to water education.
Currently, several other applications from across the globe are under evaluation and shall be present during the meeting. You can still apply and obtain the label. More info here.
IAHR will also contribute to the special 50th anniversary coffee table book, sharing insights into the initiative and its role in enhancing global water capacity through high-quality educational programmes.
Looking ahead, the IAHR Label will be featured during the upcoming 41st IAHR World Congress in Singapore, where more than 1,500 participants are expected. A dedicated session titled "Education and Professional Development: The Needs of Water Professionals in a Changing Environment and Society" will take place on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in Room 9, exploring the evolving training needs of water professionals and the growing importance of structured, high-quality education initiatives like the IAHR-UNESCO IHP Label.
