The General Members Assembly (GMA) of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) took place on Thursday, 26 June 2025, during the 41st IAHR World Congress in Singapore. Held in a hybrid format, the meeting welcomed IAHR members onsite at Room 1, Singapore EXPO, and online from around the world.
Chaired on behalf of IAHR President Prof. Philippe Gourbesville, the Assembly was a key moment to reflect on the Association’s recent achievements, approve key governance updates, and shape the future of IAHR through democratic participation.
Arthur Thomas Ippen Lecture
The Assembly opened with the prestigious Arthur Thomas Ippen Lecture, which this year was delivered by Prof. Dr Bernhard Vowinckel. His lecture, titled "Small is beautiful: What we can learn from grain-scale processes about sediment transport", reflected on a lifetime of contributions to hydraulic research.

Vice President – Europe: Prof. Ioanna Popescu
