Join us for the next 9th IAHR Europe Congress on "Arctic Waters and Beyond. Innovating Hydro-Environment Engineering for a sustainable future" which will be held in Luleå, Sweden from 9 to 11 June 2026!

Luleå is considered as the world's largest brackish water archipelago with 1,312 islands, several rivers and vast forestland. Luleå has the seventh biggest harbor in Sweden, a large steel industry and is a center for extensive research. Luleå University of Technology is one of Sweden's three technology universities with around 15,000 students and is the northernmost university in Sweden.

Call for abstracts now open

The extended abstract should address one of the four central themes of the congress. The extended abstract must not exceed two pages. Submissions will be considered either for a poster or an oral presentation. Read more

We invite proposals for Special Sessions to be held as part of the Congress programme.

What is a Special Session?

A special session is a special type of parallel session with a particular title and content, under the responsibility of a particular institution, consortium of institutions or convener(s). Read more

Call for Master Class Proposals

We invite proposals for master classes to be held as part of the pre-congress programme on 8th of June, the day before the Congress officially begins. Proposals are welcome from all Congress themes and subthemes, and submissions from organisers of all levels of seniority are encouraged. Read more

The Congress will be held at Kulturens hus - House of Culture in central Luleå with a magnificent view over the Northern harbour.

Situated close to the Arctic Circle, Luleå enjoys 24 hours of daylight in June. Its location by the Bothnian Sea offers opportunities to relax in the archipelago or along the sandy beaches on the coast.
