IAHR joins the global engineering community in celebrating engineers' global impact on sustainable development and human progress

Marked each year on 4 March, World Engineering Day is an opportunity to recognise the essential contributions of engineers in addressing global challenges and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. IAHR highlights the critical role of hydro-environment engineering and research in delivering sustainable, science-based solutions for water-related challenges.

IAHR members and partners work at the forefront of:

  • sustainable and resilient water resources management,

  • climate change adaptation and mitigation,

  • flood and drought risk reduction,

  • protection and restoration of riverine, coastal, and aquatic ecosystems, and

  • the integration of research, innovation, and practice in engineering decision-making

IAHR reaffirms its commitment to fostering international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building to support engineers and researchers worldwide in creating a more sustainable and water-secure future.

IAHR encourages its community to reflect on the impact of engineering on society and to continue advancing solutions that benefit people, nature, and the planet.
