
The following position is vacant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of our Institute member FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Hydraulic Engineering Section) from 01. August 2026:
Your Duties
Participation in a research project on instabilities at the air-water interface in highly turbulent flows (funded by German Research Foundation DFG)
Design, set-up and performance of physical model tests in the hydraulic laboratory of FH Aachen, particularly PTV-based
Supervision of project-related student theses
Data documentation and writing of research reports
Publication of results in international journals
Your Skills and job Requirements
Master degree (or equivalent degree) with specialization in fluid mechanics / multiphase flows from a national or international university
Experiences in experimental work
Sound knowledge in hydraulic engineering (hydraulic structures) preferred
Interest in scientific work and further scientific qualification (PhD)
Sound English skills, basic German skills are welcome
Structured and independent work skills
Good communication skills and interest in working with students
Programming skills (Matlab or Python)
Student visa and residence permit at start of project (if applicable)
We Offer
Conditions according to TV-L E 13
Full-time employment (100 %), temporary for three years
Regular weekly work time of 39 hours 50 minutes
