Submit your Abstract for the 42nd IAHR World Congress 

The IAHR is pleased to announce the opening of abstract submissions for the 42nd IAHR World Congress, to be held in Bari, Italy in 2027. The Congress will bring together the international water community — researchers, professionals, institutions, utilities, policymakers and young scientists — to share knowledge, present new ideas and contribute to the future of water engineering and management.

The Organising Committee strongly encourages participants to plan their submission early. A prompt review process will help authors take advantage of the Early Bird registration opportunity and organize their participation in Bari well in advance.

  Congress Themes 

The 42nd IAHR World Congress invites contributions related to the Congress theme “Driving Change Management in the Era of Digital Water and Global Transition”. This Congress will focus on hydraulic research, hydro-environment engineering and knowledge applications as key drivers of change in the water sector. Digital transition will be explored as a cross-cutting priority, supporting more efficient, resilient and sustainable water systems through data, modelling, monitoring, computation and decision-support tools.

  Participate in the 2027 John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition 

The John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition recognises conference papers from undergraduate and postgraduate students on the basis of written and oral presentations at the IAHR World Congress. The 17th edition of the competition will take place in the frame of the 42nd IAHR World Congress, to be held in Bari, Italy from 28 June to 2 July 2027. To apply for the 2027 edition, please make sure to submit your abstract for the 42nd IAHR World Congress by 15 January 2027. 

  A Two-Year Pathway: Road to Bari 

Bari 2027 is not conceived as a standalone event. It is the destination of an international process that mobilises IAHR technical committees, working groups, regional divisions, cities, institutions and industry around shared water challenges and concrete deliverables. The Road to Bari brings together tracks of logic and discussion from now until 2027 with the intent at Bari to result in a definitive set of outcomes and a plan for how to implement what we have learned from now to 2027 regarding Digital Transformation across Climate Change, Resilience and Disasters, and water for the energy transition, food security, and nature.
