Helmut Scheuerlein Is the Director of the Water Resources Institute and the Hydraulic Laboratory of the University of Innsbruck, Asutria.He was born in Ansbach, Germany,in 1937. Dr.Scheuerlein started his professional career in 1956-1961 at the University of Technology Munich, Dept of Civil Engineering. In 1961 he became Dipl.Ing. of Civil Engineering. Between 1961-1974 at the University of Technology Munich,Obernach Hydraulics Laboratory, Research Associate,later Senior,Engineer and Deputy Director. In 1968 he received his Doctor Diploma. From 1974-1976 he served with UNDP Tehran,Ministry of Power as an expert for hydranlic engineering and water resources research.From 1976-1993 he was at the University of Technology ,Munich,Obernach Hydraulics Laboratory ,as a Senior Engineer and Deputy Director, in 1983 he became Dr.-Ing. habil. Diploma and in 1990 he became Professor of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources. Since March 1993 he was worked at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, where he became a full professor and Dircetor of the Water Resources Institute and the Hydraulic Laboratory. Dr. Scheuerlein's extensive scope of activities are: University courses in hydraulic engineering,hydropower, river mechanics,dam construction,reservoir management;Hydralic model testing;Consultant in the fields of hydraulic engineering, river mechanics;design of dams and spillways,reservoir sedimentation. He is a member of the following organisations:Austrian Water Resources Association(OWVA),Auatrian Engineering Association(OIAV),German Water Resources Association(DVWK),American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE),Committee on Sedimentation of Reservoirs of International Commission on Large Dams(ICOLD),Committee on Fluvial Hydraulics of International Association for Hydraulic Research(IAHR),International Nile Basin Association(INBA). Dr.Scheuerlein is fluent in German and English, but can also converse in French, Spanish, Persian. 60 scientific publications, 60 project reports anf 1 textbook on diversion dams(in German) have been published by Dr.Scheuerlein.
