Abstract: Sediment problems at intakes can be avoided when certain design rules are observed. The first step is to optimize the sediment distribution in the approaching f1ow. For the intake itself various methods of se-diment control are presented applying to sediment transported close to the bed as wel1 as to sediment in suspension.
