Batman University
Assistant Professor
About
Dr. Ibrahim Halil Demirel is an Assistant Professor of Hydraulics and Hydrology at Batman University, Türkiye. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics) from Yıldız Technical University. His research focuses on hydrological extremes, basin-scale hydrological modelling, hydropower systems, and the interactions between water and energy systems under climate change. His work particularly addresses semi-arid river basins in Türkiye, integrating hydrology, hydraulics, and energy perspectives to support climate-resilient water resources and sustainable hydropower development. Dr. Demirel actively contributes to international research networks and science–policy initiatives related to hydropower and climate adaptation. He serves as Co-Chair of Working Group 3 (Hydropower & Climate Change) within ETIP Hydropower and contributes to international assessments such as the World Small Hydropower Development Report (WSHPDR). His research has been published in SCI and SCI-Expanded journals, and he regularly presents his work at international conferences in hydrology, water resources, and hydropower systems.
