Abstract: The big earthquake had hit the Tohoku area of Japan on 11 March 2011. The earthquake also generated tsunami which approached inland in about 30 minutes after main tremor. The tsunami wave gives considerable change to the coastal morphology along affected area. The objective of this study was to present the effect of tsunami on coastal morphology around a river mouth and the recovery of morphology in subsequent time after the disaster in Sendai Coast especially around the Nanakita River mouth. Three different backshore features of study area showed different tsunami effect and recovery of coastal morphology.
