Abstract: Riparian trees have various functions, such as preservation of the living space of life, interception of sunlight, supply of the organic materials, formation of hiding place and water quality purification. The riparian trees play a very important role in river environment. On the other hand, riparian tree flushed by the flood causes inundation by being caught around river structures. It is a very important subject on river improvement to clarify the behavior of driftwood. The driftwoods accumulated on the flood plain have the functions of river environment as well as the riparian trees. Thus, the accumulated driftwoods, which cause a disadvantage extremely on river improvement, play the important role in the river environment. Thus, it is an important subject to clarify the behavior of driftwood, also when considering river environment. This research tries to grasp the behavior of driftwood accumulate at a bridge pier using a remote controlled surveillance camera for the purpose of clarifying the mechanism of the driftwood accumulation to a bridge pier.
