Abstract: The paper presents preliminary results of a field investigation conducted at the Vistula River to examine riverbed morphology. An experimental campaign and methods are presented in detail. The bed structure consisting of bed forms and quantification of its principal parameters through the statistical description and frequency spectra of the bed elevation profiles are provided. The results show a great variability in size of dunes, which lengths and heights follow an exponential relationship. Moreover, the influence of groynes on the dunes length is briefly discussed.
