Abstract: In this paper we study the shallow water flow with transport of pollutant by simultaneously solving the Saint-Venant system and the transport equation, based on a finite-volume WENO method, in which the numerical fluxes are obtained by the Roe’s approximate Rieman solver and the interfacial values are obtained by the fifth-order WENO reconstruction. The exact balance between the flux gradients and the source terms is obtained by decomposing the source terms into characteristic components. The steady flow over a bump without the pollutant transport and the dam-break with the pollutant in the shallow water were simulated and the numerical results show the desired accuracy, high-resolution and robustness of proposed method.
