Abstract: A flood emergency response system for flood detention areas has been described in this paper. It can be used to quickly simulate flood under some specific event and to show corresponding consequence on GIS. The system is applicable not only at the planning stage for flood control, but also in emergent situation when some flood events suddenly occur, such as dyke failure, gate failure etc. As a windows software on GIS system, it was first applied to Kangshan flood detention area in Jiangxi Province.
