Abstract: Traditional paper based hydrological yearbook and its numerous components i. e texts, graphics and databases have been edited in Reunion island since year 1975. These last 7 years, the Internet and the world wide web have to be introduced and open a new dimension for yearbooks authoring. So, these techniques introduce net based structures with flexible linked components written in HTML, XML languages and completed with multimedia presentations of field observations like floods, droughts, water quality. .. and also for education (water level or discharge measuring. .. ). The last 2003/2004 CD-ROM release have been written (i) as a stand-alone tool to give to engineers, teachers, students and government authorities a "photograph" of many hydrologic facts, relationships, statistics, public water use... Easy access to online databases using Scalable Vector Graphics maps (SVG technology) complete specific station data use. For example, database of more 400 multi-purpose stations is linked with pre-defined paths from contextual texts, graphics, tables and videos. .. besides direct index access and geographical "mouse click". Reader may notice that information on the CD-ROM can be copy and paste in HTML format to basic spreadsheet for specific statistics use. More (ii): It is easy to connect to online web server and direct search any (same formated) new current year observation to complete pre-registered databases with up to date data from dynamically generated maps or high-quality graphics with precise structural and visual controls. At last (iii): For authorized users, the web platform allows to connect to GSM and INMARSAT stations to get real-time observations which can be compared to pre-registered hydrological caracteristics for first approach forecasting without computing.
