Abstract: This paper presents a model useful to determine the minimum freshwater flowrate for a complex water-using urban system, considering flowrate and quality needed and discharged by different system users. The model optimizes all connections among water-supply sources and users, as well as users’ discharges and water reuse. It was tested in a Mexican city with fourteen users and four water quality parameters of demanded and discharged water. Several scenarios are presented and analyzed as support to decision-making for more efficient water use.
