Abstract: This paper describes the local velocities of flow through and around the tetrahedron-like penetrating frames, which is used as a part of restoration of riparian zones. The hydraulic experiment on the basis of flow velocity measurement was conducted by changing the shooting density, the span between shooting zones and dimensions of the shooting zones. The experimental results show that the present tetrahedron-like penetrating frames have the basic function on reducing the near-bed velocity and Reynolds stress. It is suggested that the effectiveness of the shooting density ρis from 0. 18 to 0. 22, the ratio of span between shooting zones to wideness of shooting zone L/b should not exceed 1. 0, and the length of the shooting zone l/H is about 1. 3 in order to save the cost of the shooting zones.
