Abstract: We report laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) measurement result of the trajectory and centerline concentration of a round buoyant jet in a counterflow. The experiments are carried out by towing the jet in a large water channel and cover a wide range of flow conditions. Normalization of the data is attempted using the scalar characteristics at the penetration point as well as the length scale analysis. We achieve reasonably good collapse of the trajectory and concentration data at the different flow conditions into similarity forms. Better normalization is obtained in the flow after the penetration point where the still buoyant jet effluent is simply convected backward by the counterflow.
