Abstract: The flow in outlet structures of pressure tunnels is simulated by using Monte Carlo method with irregular random walking grids in this paper. According to the comparison between simulation results and laboratory measurements, this paper reaches the conclusion that the negative pressure region on a convex boundary (including a broken line gradient) not only caused by boundary layer separation, but also by the centrifugal force which is the result of the convex boundary. Overall, the computational simulations agree well with the experiments and show that the method is a very flexible tool and the results are stable.
