Abstract: In this paper the study and analysis are based on the Gezhouba Reservoir on the Changjiang River. On basis of the prototype hydrological and sediment observation results in 20 years, the properties of flow movement and sediment transportation, the sediment deposition in the reservoir and the scouring in the downstream river channels have been explored. The rules of flow movement and sediment transportation in the run-of-river reservoir as well as the sediment deposition in this kind of reservoir and the scouring in river channels below this kind of reservoir have been disclosed. The impact of river channel scouring on low water levels has been unveiled.
