Abstract: This paper presents a field experimental study on the excavation of a pilot channel by blasting on the lower Yellow River. The experimental results show that the millisecond-delay blasting technique can be easily implemented in field constructions and is effective in excavating a temporary pilot channel This method can be used to alter and control the flow directions to ensure a smooth main flow path, which is crucial to the safety of river training works and flood control.
