Abstract: After knowing the characteristics of sediment transport in the Lancang River and the forming reasons of the Xiaoganlanba sharp shoal, the regulation principles are established to control the river situation in middle and low water period, layout water way and flow route stably, giving attention to both riverside stability and long term development. Effects of river regulations with the aid of a group of spur dikes or a long longitudinal dike are compared. The method to increase regulative stage and make flow back to channel in advance is also presented.
