Abstract: Picture of bedload grain size distribution was drawn based on 52 samples collected in Feb. 2003. Results show that the major bedload sediment of the estuary is made up of clayey silt, silt, sandy silt and sand. Most of the bedload grain size is finer gradually from inside of the estuary to the outside except the North Branch, and the particle diameter ranges from 0.005mm to 0.223mm. By the influence of salt water intruding, the bedload sediment of the North Branch mainly comes from the sea out of the estuary and the sediment resuspension.
