Abstract: Deposition in the reach within a certain extent downstream of the Yellow River is directly related to the condition that whether the delta coastline of the Yellow River estuary is in dynamic equilibrium. The concept of the dynamic equilibrium in delta coastline of the Yellow River estuary is discussed in the paper, and the incoming sediment amount when the delta coastline of the Yellow River is in dynamic equilibrium is analyzed by the comparison method of transporting sediment outside sea and the related method of incoming sediment to land formation area according to the related observed data. The conclusion shows that the delta coastline of the Yellow River estuary may be in dynamic equilibrium when the annual-averaged incoming sediment amount at Lijin station is about 3.45×10 9 t.
