Measurement and Control Technology for Sediment Model of Chongqing Reach

Abstract: The physical model of Chongqing reach in the fluctuating backwater area of the Three Gorges Reservoir has a very large size. It is used to study the influence of sediment accumulation on the ports and waterways. The model test needs to measure and control diversiform physical quantities in real time, such as water level, velocity of flow, discharge, sediment concentration, grain diameter, and so on. The measurement requires high precision and the task of measurement is arduous. This paper introduces an automatic computer measure-control system for the sediment model. The principle of computer measurement and the methods of measuring sediment concentration and grain diameter are presented in emphasis. .
