Abstract: In recent years, because of the bed elevation raising at the Tongguan station and the oncoming runoff of the river decreasing, obvious channel shrinkage in the Lower Weihe River was observed. It makes much more difficulties on flood control. Based on the analyses of the field data from the river, the paper describes the features and causes of channel shrinkage and suggests the harnessing countermeasures of the Lower Weihe River.
