Abstract: Ocean waves can propagate hundreds of kilometers into sea ice. We measured the decay of these waves during SIPEX II (The Second Sea Ice Physics and Ecosystem Experiment). A series of wave sensors were deployed on Antarctic sea ice. Three large wave events and three ice floe breakup events were captured. Here we report the deployment and analysis methods and show the results from the three breakup events.
