Abstract: Integration of a wave-ice interaction model into the Los Alamos sea ice model CICE is reported. The wave-ice interaction model predicts the width of the marginal ice zone and its floe size distribution, based on wave-induced ice fracture. The integration accounts for the large spatial and temporal scales that are necessary in climate studies. A selection of preliminary results from a standalone version of CICE is shown.
