Abstract: Based on the topography data of Poyang Lake in 2011 and corresponding surface area for different water levels, after statistic analysis, this paper made comparative analysis on the wetland area of Poyang Lake to forecast the influence of terrain evolution on area variation of wetland, land and deep water area in PoyangLake in future 10 and 20 years. This study indicated that there is a significant relationship between the wetland area and the water level of Poyang Lake. When the water level is 15m, the whole wetland area of the lake reaches the maximum, and the wetland area reduce greatest. When the water level is 17m, the area of wetland increase most; the overall variation range is less than 5%.
