Abstract: Water temperature is a key variable structuring aquatic community and affecting ecological processes. It is a frequently used metric in stream water quality assessment [1]. Aquatic species are adapted to local thermal regimes and modifications to thermal regime can have consequences for ecological processes, aquatic species distribution and community composition, as well as ecosystem services. Numerous anthropogenic pressures are affecting aquatic ecosystems, including climate change that is increasing temperatures globally with significant consequences for freshwater ecology [2].
