Abstract: The Yellow River Basin covers 23 longitudes in west and east, 10 latitudes in the north and south direction, and its temperature changes greatly. In winter, due to the influence of the cold air, the climate is cold and dry. The average temperature in January is all below0°C, and the extremes lowest temperature in a year can be down to–25~–53°C in the upper reaches. The Yellow River and its branches, therefore, have different ice regimes. The analysis to ice regime of the Yellow River in this paper has been in progress, and the conclusion is that the ice regime of Yellow River is jointly affected by natural and artificial factors. The natural factors include the channel course form, heat and power, and mechanical. The human factors include the reservoir application, floating-bridge construction and water diversion and so on.
