Abstract: Dynamic model of ice ridge buildup is elaborated. The milestone of the model is the conception of a ridgeline characterizing space configuration of the ridge crest. The estimated characteristics of ice continuum along the ridgeline are the linear densities of volume, impulse and energy of the ridge. The dynamic equations describing space-time variations of the ridgeline and the growth of ridge volume are constructed. The expressions of stresses on the ridgeline, reproducing internal stresses in sea ice cover at the geophysical scales, are found in explicit form. Elaborated theory is used for the description of ridge buildup along broken contact line between floes.
