On the Excitation of Shelf Edge Waves Due to Self-Induced Oscillations of Ice Floes

Abstract: The model of the excitation of gravity waves in shallow water by irregular displacements of ridged ice is developed. The amplitudes of shelf edge waves are estimated in sill model of shelf zone near Point Barrow, when the frequency and the amplitude of rough ice displacements are given. Frequencies and amplitudes of windinduced displacements of rough ice are estimated using the model of ice ridges buildup between circular floes.
