Abstract: The availability and quality of water in coastal agricultural watersheds is a critical challenge. The following factors contribute to the water resources management issues across most coastal river basins: i) scarce utilization of surface water reservoirs, ii) excessive groundwater withdrawals for crop water irrigation, and iii) excessive fertilization activities for crop productivity amplification. Similar mechanisms have resulted in a substantial water stress over the quantity of Almyros Basin's coastal groundwater system, as well as nitrate pollution and seawater intrusion (Lyra et al., 2021a).
