Abstract: In this paper, the usage of an objective framework for the generation of spatial distributed Manning's n roughness coefficient maps and their impact on river flood modeling are examined. The methodology was implemented for a specific part of the ungauged Xerias stream, Greece and later applied for the entire Xerias stream that outflow to the sea. The analysis is based on the extreme flash flood event occurred on 9 October 2006, with 232 mm of rainfall falling in, approximately, 12 hours. The proposed methodology can be valuable technique for flood inundation modelling in other streams with similar river-bed and hydrological conditions.
