Abstract: A comparative study is conducted between BGK-LABSWE and MRT-LABSWE for laminar plane cavity flows (or between BGK-LABSWET M and MRT-LABSWET M for turbulent flows). The standard Smagorinsky's algorithm is embedded into the multiple-relaxation-time (MRT) lattice Boltzmann model (LBM) for large eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent shallow water flows (MRTLABSWET M). It is verified by the experimental data, furthermore, comparing with the results obtained by the BGK-LABSWET M. The objective of this study is to perform comparative analysis between BGKand MRT-models in simulating the plane cavity flows with or without turbulence.
