Abstract: In the present study the hydrodynamic behavior as well as the wave-structure interaction of fixed floating breakwaters in shallow and intermediate waters are examined experimentally. The influence of the incident wave characteristics and certain geometric characteristics of the structure on its efficiency is examined. Results related to transmission, reflection and energy dissipation of the incident (regular and irregular) waves on the structure are presented. Spectral analysis for regular and irregular waves reveals the energy transfer in front and after the floating structure due to the high reflection of the incident waves on the breakwater and energy dissipation (vortices) in the structure area.
