Abstract: We present an analytical model for Reynolds shear stress profiles in submerged wall jets over a smooth bed. The mathematical framework stands on the conservation equations of fluid mass and momentum. The Reynolds shear stress profiles are computed employing a newly proposed single-layer self-similar velocity profile. The Reynolds shear stress distributions manifest positive and negative magnitudes in near-bed and free shear layers, respectively. The predictions of the study are in agreement with the experimental data.
