Abstract: For evaluating flood risks and modeling sediment transport along rivers, their hydraulic conditions must be known and for hydraulic modeling high quality terrain data of the riverbed and neighboring foreland are required. In this study, a newly developed topobathymetric laser system (green wavelength, VQ820-G & VQ880-G, Riegl LMS) has been used to survey the Mangfall river between Rosenheim and Feldkirchen-Westerham. Detailed data of the riverbed, the riverbanks and foreland had been acquired and used to build a hydraulic 2D-Mesh for flood wave simulations. The visualization of the LiDAR data and the numerical results of a CFD simulation will be shown. Pre- and post processing was done with our software HydroVish.
