Abstract: Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are performed and validated with data from two lab experiments with different porosity of the central block in a synthetic urban district While the time averaged results are of , . a similar satisfactory quality as other 3D numerical models which adopt a more simple turbulence modelling approach, and can equally be used to assess typical criteria for the stability of persons, an eddy-resolving approach is more suited for exploring turbulent and time-dependent, local flow features Field observations showed the importance of these phenomena for stability of persons, yielding the need . assess the stability to recriteria .
