Abstract: The experimental investigation on motion response of immerged tunnel element with mooring lines under the irregular wave actions was conducted in the marine environmental flume of 50m in length, 3m in width and 1m in height in the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, Dalian University of Technology China. The tunnel element immerged by both the suspension cables and the mooring lines. Motion components of tunnel element in the experiment are collected by the Untouched 6-D Measurement System. The relationship of significant wave height and significant wave period on the motion responses and the mooring line tensions are given, and the effects of mooring lines on the motion response of the immerged tunnel element under the irregular wave actions are discussed. The results show that the sway and heave motions are composed of wave-frequency motions and the low-frequency motions for the tunnel element with both suspension cables and mooring lines, and the motion responses of tunnel element in roll directions are mainly the wave-frequency motion. The peak values of the frequency spectra of the motion responses increase with the increasing of significant wave period; the cable tensions are relatively large as the significant wave height and the significant wave period increase.
