Abstract: The ski-jump-step spillway is proposed for hydropower projects with high dams and wide range of operation discharge. In the new discharge system, fully aerated flow is provided for the stepped chute after pre-aeration developed by the ski-jump and the aeration basin upstream. Its structure and flow regimes were introduced and the experimental results indicated good effects of energy dissipation and aeration.
