Abstract: Nha Trang Bay, has been acknowledged as one of 29 most beautiful bays of the world. With such natural gifts as the position, landscape, climate, together with its rich background in culture and humanities, Nha Trang is fully capable of developing many diverse forms of tourism. Nha Trang bay is endowed by nature with deep, quiet and warm waters all the year round, surrounded by archipelagoes, islands, mountains and beautiful-white sandy beaches which are very attractive to the tourist. Besides that, the beaches still suffer from several problems which could cause negative impacts to the tourist as followings: a) deeply impacted by high and destruction waves during storm and NE monsoon; b) often effected by erosion/sedimentation, significant seasonal fluctuations; c) The beach is narrow, steep and deep, during the winter, unfavorable for activities on the beach. To promote Nha Trang bay becoming more attractive, re-creating and enhancement the beaches as well as mitigate negative impacts to the beaches are necessary. Study on the hydrodynamic and morphodynamics of the Nha Trang bay will provide scientific base to understanding the evolution of the bay and propose suitable solutions for sustainable development of the Nha Trang bay.
