Abstract: This paper described relationships between precipitation and snow depth, elevation. Therefore, we conducted 4 years assimilation method during September 2005 to August 2009 in the upper Iwaki catchment, Japan with SWE model. Furthermore, the runoff analysis shows high accuracy of river discharge in no-snowmelt season, but shows underestimation of river discharge in snowmelt season because of underestimation of the model driving spatial snowfall distribution. Moreover, the runoff model has the large error of peak discharge at some abrupt events, especially, snowmelt season. It is suspected that error of input snow water equivalent (SWE) data causes underestimation of flow volume. We estimate lack of SWE and relationships between precipitation and snow depth, elevation. As a result, lack of SWE has increased the higher snow depth and elevation.
