Abstract: Topographical surveys of bed surface were conducted in a section of an agricultural drainage canal including artificially-created fish nests and a fish pool to measure sediment deposition and erosion within the canal. A two-dimensional open channel flow was numerically simulated to estimate the relationship between water flow and sedimentary process. It was observed that the upstream fish nest on the left sidewall of the canal was highly susceptible to sediment deposition, which may result in losing the function as a fish resting area intended originally.
