Abstract: Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is a common method for flow velocity field measurements. PIV algorithms are implemented in several existing commercial or open-source computer programs. However, it is not obvious which tool should be used. Two new test-cases from physical models of movable dams in Hun and Monsin, Belgium, are presented in this paper. Velocity fields are first measured with electromagnetic probes. Then, a comparison of open-source PIV software products is proposed.
