Abstract: Hydraulic structures may be blockage and adversely impact by floating debris and sediments. In this contribution, the impact of debris on hydraulic structures is discussed in an Australian context. Specifically, the impact of debris on road crossings, dam spillways and the rapid siltation of reservoirs in Australia is discussed. The study is based upon a series of field observations over the past 30 years combined with a review of the literature.
