Abstract: Numerical models that can accurately simulate flooding conditions are essential for flood countermeasures, including urban flooding, which has become increasingly severe in recent years. Hydraulic experiments play an important role in model development, and hydraulic experiments that measure a large number of hydraulic quantities increase the model's value as a validation material. Among them, few experiments directly measure the hydrodynamic forces acting on structures, and knowledge of the handling of structures in flooding flows is needed. In this study, we developed a cost-effective, easily removable instrument for directly measuring hydrodynamic forces, which has not been used in previous studies. The results were similar to those of previous studies, confirming the usefulness of the new instrumentation.
